Born March 12, 2010 sired by Westwood Royal H.C. Dennis and Mistyland Reba. Bass as he was named was a flashy stud colt. He was shown as a weanling at the National Clydesdale Show, he placed 2nd in the Jr. Stallion Foal Class. He stood 1st, at Boone Co. Fair, 1st at Iowa State Fair, and 1st, at Walworth Co. Fair. Growing as a yearning he stayed home to prepare for the 2012. In 2012 Bass was shown as a gelding placing 1st, at the National Clydesdale Show, 2nd at Boone Co. Fair, 1st at Iowa State Fair and 1st & Grand Champion at Walworth Co. Fair. That same year he made is debut in the cart placing 1st Place in the Futurity Cart Class at the National Clydesdale Show. He was named the 2012 All-American Gelding 3 & under. 2013 was another great year placing in the top 2 at every show. He went on the fall of 2013 to be the Hight Selling Clydesdale Gelding at the 2013 Fall Clyde Sale in Shipshewana, Indiana. Mark and Shannon Martin of Classic City Clydesdales purchased him there. They showed him that Fall at the Georgia National Fair in Perry Georgia. The following year Bart Long of Bart Long Auctions purchased him with plans to use him in his exhibition hitch. It wasn't long before he was acquired by Jason Hunter of Hunting Creek Farms to assist their show hitch at the 2015 World Clydesdale Show held in London Ontario Canada. Jason Hunter received an offer on him following completion of the WCS, and Bass made the move to California! This horse made every owner money every time he was sold. That pedigree still lives on here at Mistyland Clydesdales. His maternal sister, Mistyland Jacque was bred to Dennis "aka Woody" and produced Mistyland Jade, who is a current broodmare here.
Ava was the result of 4 generations of planned breeding decisions starting from Brookside Rhonda. Rhonda was a 17 hand great broodmare and very hitchy horse producing many great offspring. We bred Rhonda to Greendykes Reflection producing Mistyland Reba. Reba was an 18.2 hand bay mare with size and drafty confirmation. We bred Reba to Ellengowan Sensational Randy what produced Mistlyand Celine; another 18.2 hand mare. Celine was a lighter color mare but was built to be a broodmare as were her dam and grand dam. All of these mares lived be into their teens. Wanting to continue a strong pedigree with strong maternal lines we chose to breed Celine to Pinnacle's Lucky Strike, this cross produced Mistlyland L.S. Ava. She was quite roan but had tremendous quality, feather, hair coat, and superior conformation. She stood only 17.2 hands but was very correct. Ava was successful in the showing as a filly, yearling, two year old and 3 year old, but usually stood right behind Mistyland L.S. Jacque. We will feature here in the coming months. When Ava got be be breeding age we bred her to the sire we had Westwood H.C. Dennis, that cross produced Mistyland Aplollo, and Mistyland Storm. a young filly that we lost to natural causes. Storm was probably the best filly that we ever raised. We retained Apollo and gelded him, and he is currently FOR SALE. We lost Ava when she was 6 to a lightning strike, it was a terrible loss to our breeding program.
Our current Herd Sire, Mistyland Jinx. He is the only black Stallion produced by Pinnacle's Lucky Strike. Jinx is currently going strong at 14 years old and has all of our mares settled and confirmed in foal for 2024!
The qualities we look for are disposition, vigor, attractive head, neck and shoulder, big feet, quality, feather and natural athletic ability. Jim possesses all of these qualities and passes them on to his offspring. Jinx is available for on farm breeding for the the rest of 2023!
